Install and download ISO Image using SSH WGET in VMware ESXi vSphere Server and Client

A detailed tutorial and step by step guide on how to install and download ISO image using SSH Wget in VMware ESXi vSphere Server and Client, Allowing you to easily setup a virtual machine from a local bootable ISO operating system.

In this tutorial I demonstrate how to enable the SSH server within ESXi using vSphere Client and then connect to the SSH server using Putty (Shell Terminal) and by locating the datastore path and then using wget downloading the latest version of Linux (In this case Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Server AMD64).

Once the download is complete you then need to attach the ISO as a virtual device (CD ISO) in the hardware settings, remember to click power on device otherwise you will get the network BOOT fail message followed by no operating system installed.

The Datastore path location can be found in /vmfs/volumes/datastoreX (replace X with the number of the data store you want to edit, normally 1 but will be different if you have multiple datastores).

Applications used in Video:
ESXi 5.5 Update 1 ISO image (vSphere ESXi Installable with VMware Tools).
vSphere Client
Putty (SSH Terminal Client)
Windows 7
Ubuntu 14.04 Server LTS
