While we were on the issue of politics, News Five asked Fonseca for his views on the U.D.P’s move to disbar his predecessor at the Ministry of Education from even qualifying as a standard bearer for the next general elections. Patrick Faber, who, like Fonseca, has won the last five elections in his Collet constituency, has held over for the highest office in the land – that of Acting Prime Minister when former Prime Minister Dean Barrow was away on other business. But his party’s own Nominations Committee has rejected his application to run for the U.D.P. in Collet in the next national elections. Its grounds for the rejection are described as Faber’s failure to comply with the U.D.P’s constitution, when he went public to blast the party through Facebook posts. Today, Fonseca told us that while what is happening in the U.D.P is an internal occurrence, he feels that Faber has been disrespected. .
