Unable to locally verify the issuer's authority using wget command

When i try to get response from the https://www.google.com using the gnuwin32 command ‘wget.exe’, i am getting the error “Cannot verify www.google.com’s certificate, issued by Google Inc” and “Unable to locally verify the issuer’s authority”.
The same error repeats for the yahoo and verisign websites.
Example: wget.exe https://www.google.com
