The legendary Grumman F-14 Tomcat will go down in history as one of the worlds all-time great military aircraft.

This unique footage shows the F-14A Tomcats of VF-1 & VF-2 during its first aircraft carrier deployment with the US Navy, aboard the mighty USS Enterprise. Showing various shots of the aircraft operating from the busy flight deck, it also shows the aircraft in the air, and in formation.

During this deployment, the Tomcat undertook its first combat missions when it provided Combat Air Patrols (CAP) over Saigon, during Operation Frequent Wind, which saw the evacuation of American citizens from Saigon, in April 1975.

It is an excellent look back in time to the start of what was to be a very successful career for the Tomcat.
