NEW DELHI: Adani Data Networks and Vodafone Idea have likely nudged the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to extend the August 16 deadline for meeting the minimum rollout obligations for the launch of fifth-generation or 5G services, Financial Express reported Wednesday citing sources. Vodafone Idea has been struggling to raise funds which is crucial for the rollout of its 5G services, even as rivals Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel are on an aggressive 5G rollout spree and aim to complete the deployments within a year. By contrast, Adani Group is yet to figure out how it can deploy a 5G network in the millimeter-wave (26GHz) band for captive networks, the report said.
