AMD Ryzen SMT Disabled to make VMware ESXi 6.5 Work

As an update to our initial AMD Ryzen boot PSOD with VMware ESXi 6.5 video we have the “fix”, turning SMT off. You will lose 30%+ of your performance making your 8 core AMD Ryzen 7 equivalent to a sub-6 core model and you are still likely to encounter errors, but it is possible.

A few other pointers if you are trying this from the video:
1) Ensure your motherboard has an Intel i210 NIC onboard. The Realtek NICs used on most consumer Ryzen boards are not supported. We had an Intel XL710 40GbE card installed in this test machine since it is on our lab network.
2) Many early Ryzen motherboard BIOS did not have a SMT disabled function. The ASUS Prime B350-Plus we used for this video added that feature in BIOS only around the third week of March 2017. We recommend getting the latest BIOS.
