OpenWRT - x86 PC - Install to Hard Drive

In this video, we are going to install OpenWRT on the hard drive of the PC, it can be either a PC, a server or even a laptop. This is how we do it:

– Boot up the PC with a live USB, it can be either CentOS, Ubuntu, Finnix or even WindowsPE.
– Download OpenWRT firmware and write the image to the hard disk
– Resize partion and enlarge the file system to use the whole HDD space.

*** In the video, I used combined-squashfs.img.gz. Please use combined-ext4.img.gz for the best compatibility ***

01:26 – Create a live USB Finnix to boot the PC
02:08 – PC router hardware walk through
02:43 – Boot up the PC with Finnix
03:35 – Download OpenWRT firmware and write the images to HDD
05:55 – Boot up the PC with OpenWRT
07:20 – Resize the disk partion to use the whole free space of the HDD (instead of 250 MB)
10:58 – Checks and final words
