ZimaBoard 832 Review, Alpine Linux and Docker for Private Cloud

I received this board in exchange for a review. So I decided to try and install Alpine Linux on the hardware, install docker and finally install ownCloud. I have reviewed ownCloud before and I am putting this board to work as my Private Cloud server. The results are in the video and it may surprise you.

The Zimaboard 832 is a N3450 Quad Core CPU, with 8GB of RAM and 32 GB in in-build eMMC storage. The board includes a cable for a single SATA drive with power supplied from the Zimaboard. There is also a PCIe Gen 2 4-lane connector on the side to add additional accessory cards to the device. It supports both Legacy and UEFI booting, see the video for more information.

Benchmarks compared this board against other Arm based boards I have in my collection, since this seems to be where it competes in the market. Overall performance is very good with the Zimaboard taking the top spot in the majority of the tests.

I didn’t cover CasaOS in this video, so look for a separate video covering that topic, soon.
