In this tutorial I’m going to show you to set up Bing Webmaster Tools and verify your website in it.

The first step will be to install a plugin called WordPress SEO by Yoast that will make the verification process a little bit easier. So let’s install that plugin.

To install this plugin please log into your WordPress dashboard, hover over Plugins and then click on Add New.

On the next page type “WordPress SEO by Yoast” into the search bar. The plugin we want should be the first one in the top left.

Click on the Install Now button and then click Activate after it’s installed.

You will see a new entry in your WordPress admin menu (on the left) called SEO. Hover over that and choose General.

On the next page click on the Webmaster tab at the top. You will see 4 fields for Webmaster verification, one of them is for Bing website verification.

Next, go to the Bing Webmaster Tool Box at www.bing.com/toolbox/webmaster.

Either sign into a Microsoft account (hotmail, rocketmail, or outlook) or create a new account if you don’t have one yet.

Once you’ve logged into your Bing Webmaster tools you can register your website with Bing by clicking on the Add Your Site button near the middle of the page.

Simply fill in the fields on the next page to get started. You will have the option to add sitemaps for your website if you have them. If you don’t, you can leave that entry blank and add them later. Here’s how to add sitemaps later: https://youtu.be/_TPzV7Rlmu0.

Once you’ve completed the form click the Add button. On the next page you’ll be given 3 options to verify your website. The second option is the one we’re doing for this tutorial.

Copy the alphanumeric string in the Content parameter and paste it into the Bing Webmaster Tools field in the WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin. Click on Save Changes.

Now go back to Bing WebMasters tools and click on Verify.

If everything went well you see the profile page for your website. There won’t be any data there yet, but it will start showing up within a few days.

And that is how you do Bing Webmaster Tools verification via the meta tag option.
