Intel XESS 1.1 VS 1.2 in 3 XESS Games – Does replacing libxess.DLL even work now?

Today, we are doing some experiment by replacing Ratchet and Clank XESS v1.2 DLL file in Returnal and F1 2023. Let’s see if we can use XESS 1.2 in other games since there is still no official news on Intel XESS Github page:

We will have to wait on Intel to further confirm what changed in this new version of XESS. Based on what I can see, image quality is a bit better and more stable in objects further into the distance:

I am a bit skeptical though that simply replacing the DLL file this time doesn’t work as intended. There was only one DLL file in Ratchet and Clank and not the other 3 as well. I did try replacing XESS 1.1 files including loader files but the game simply wouldn’t start on Intel Arc GPUs. I did however manage to get it working on my Nvidia RTX 3090 which was super weird.
