Sysadmin News: SUSE to FORK RHEL?! Also Oracle Tries to Not Be the Bad Guy

I honestly though I was done covering this but new stuff comes out and I would feel amiss if I didn’t at least mention it for a few minutes here and get everyones feedback on it.

So it looks like SUSE is gonna fork RHEL and made a $10+ Million investment, and Oracle Linux is gonna do everything in their power to look like the good guy and offer a free product “somehow” that will allow it to maintain its parity to RHEL.

I was really surprised to see Oracle sort of splitting from RHEL here because I thought they had an agreement together, but maybe they’re side stepping that for now.

For you linux users out there does this news just make things a bigger head ache because you were kinda hoping it was all over? Sorry.
