How to hide system info in VMWare virtual machines

Here are the steps you can take to hide the fact that your virtual machine is, well… a virtual machine. By default, a VMWare virtual machine’s SMBIOS data will show VMWare, Inc as the system manufacturer and VMWare Virtual Platform as the system model. While this information is not directly editable in the VM settings, you can however edit the virtual machine’s configuration file by using the steps shown in the video to instead pass along the SMBIOS System Manufacturer and Model info from the host computer. While you cannot 100% hide the fact you’re using a virtual machine, say when you’re using it to expose tech support scammers (there are devices in the Device Manager that will show VMWare on them), removing VMWare from system information and replacing it with the data from the host machine will make a huge difference.
