SUMMARY
In this video, I discuss various gaming news topics. I start by mentioning Valve’s summer sale, which some viewers may have missed out on for getting a cheap Steam Deck. However, there might still be a way to get a Steam Deck for as low as $319. Next, I talk about Chimera OS running on the ROG Ally and Microsoft’s potential merger with Activision. I then mention the Xbox Ultimate Game Sale, where Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently 67% off. Antstream Arcade is also coming to Xbox, offering 1300 retro games for either $30 a year or a one-time fee of $80. I express my concern about the platform’s longevity as a cloud streaming service.
Moving on, I discuss Ratchet and Clank’s PC system requirements and the fact that it does not require an SSD to run. This might be due to updates in Microsoft’s direct storage. I then mention Operation Wolf Returns, a VR game available on multiple platforms, including PSVR2.
Next, I briefly touch on Microsoft’s ongoing merger with Activision and the hurdles they still need to overcome. I express my readiness for the ordeal to be over. The Heroic Launcher is then mentioned, which allows players to play non-Steam games on the Steam Deck. It currently supports GOG and Epic Games, with Amazon games support in the works. I ask viewers which other stores they would like to see added to the launcher.
I also discuss Chimera OS, which now supports the ROG Ally laptop. Although there are still some features that do not work, the ease of wiping the machine and going back to the default OS makes it worth considering. Finally, I mention the possibility of refurbished Steam Decks coming to GameStop stores, with the 64GB version priced at $319 and the 512GB version at $518. I express some concerns about buying refurbished items but mention that retailers have to disclose any repairs made and offer a 30-day return policy. I end the video by asking when the stable version of Steam OS 3.5 will be released.
