EU, Japan to deepen cooperation on semiconductors as bloc seeks to de-risk from China
The European Union is set to deepen cooperation with Japan on semiconductors as the race to attain dominance in the sector heats up. The EU and Japan will work together to oversee the chip supply chain, as well as facilitate the exchange of researchers and engineers. The 27-member bloc also plans to support Japanese semiconductor companies that are considering operating there, including through the use of subsidies. Cooperation between the two comes as the bloc has pledged to reduce its dependence on China.
