Do we actually need a SteamOS ISO?

Valve has been promising a SteamOS 3 ISO for ages. For over a year at this point, in fact. Yet it has failed to materialize. And while many of us have been waiting with baited breath for that release (myself included)… I’ve started to wonder how necessary it actually is. Now that Valve’s done with the new Steam Update.
