Red Dead Redemption 2 is an open-world Western – themed action-adventure video game developed and published byRockstar Games . It was initially released exclusively for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26, 2018, and later for Microsoft Windows on November 5, 2019. The game is the third title in the Red Dead series and a prequel to 2010’s Red Dead Redemption . The action takes place in a fictional version of the West , the Midwest , and the South United States , towards the end of the American frontier, in the year 1899, 12 years before the events of Red Dead Redemption , and follows the story of Arthur Morgan, a member of the Van der Linde gang of outlaws, who, in an attempt to survive in view of the end In the Wild West , he comes into conflict with government forces, rival gangs, and numerous other enemies. Part of the Van der Linde gang is John Marston, the protagonist of Red Dead Redemption , the game following, in addition to Arthur’s story, John’s maturation into the serious and responsible person that he is in that game. In addition to John, other members of the gang return in Red Dead Redemption, including Dutch van der Linde, the charismatic leader of the gang, so the stories of the two games are very connected.
