Hello everyone.
RTX 4070 Ti was heavily criticized for it’s relatively narrow memory bus, which is 192 bit (504 GB/s).
RTX 3070 Ti has 256 bit memory bus. And it’s memory bandwidth is 608 GB/s, which is 21% higher than 4070 Ti’s.
I was interested to see will overclocking RTX 4070 Ti memory result in better GPU performance.
How to calculate the memory bandwidth?
GPU memory clock = 1/8 of effective clock frequency. For 4070 Ti it is 1/8 of 21000, which is 2625 Mhz.
Stock RTX 4070 Ti memory bandwidth: (2625MHz*192bit)/1000 = 504 GB/s.
I was able to overclock the effective clock frequency up to 24500 Mhz (+3500 Mhz), which resulted in 3062,5 Mhz memory clock.
Overclocked RTX 4070 Ti memory bandwidth (+17%): (3062,5MHz*192bit)/1000 = 588 GB/s.
