Meghalaya 2023: UDP's Paul Lyngdoh, Dr Aman Warr, Congress' PN Syiem file nominations
The election fever in Shillong continued on February 7 as candidates flocked to the Deputy Commissioner’s office to file their nomination papers for the February 27 polls. West Shillong candidate from the United Democratic Party Paul Lyngdoh and debutant Dr Aman Warr who will be contesting from North Shillong constituency held a rally in Shillong before filing their nominations on Tuesday. Both the candidates were accompanied by a large number of supporters as they marched towards the DC’s office.
Speaking to the media, Paul Lyngdoh who is also the president of the UDP said that youth empowerment, jobs and fighting against drugs were his main agendas for this election.
Meanwhile, a former bureaucrat, Dr Aman Warr said that North Shillong was like an unpolished diamond and that there were many issues in the constituency that required immediate attention. Warr is contesting against BJP’s Mariahom Kharkrang.
Tuesday also saw hundreds of Congress supporters march towards the DC’s office as they accompanied the Pynthorumkhrah candidate, PN Syiem. The Former Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council chief, who returned to the Congress in 2022, is contesting against BJP candidate AL Hek and NPP’s Rocky Hek.
