EASY Install Full Text Index Search on Microsoft SQL Server 2019

For those trying to do full text index searches, but are receiving errors and / or the “Full Text Index” option is grayed out. This is most likely because you do not have that feature installed on your SQL Server.

If you were like me and deleted the set-up file for SQL Server Management Studio, follow these steps:

1. Go to:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/sql-server/sql-server-downloads
2. Click on “Download now” under “Developer”
3. Open set up
4. Click on “Download Media”
5. Ensure the “ISO” box is checked, click “Download”
6. When it is done downloading, click “Open Folder”
7. Click the ISO file
8. Click “setup.exe”
9. Click “Installation”
10. Click the first option “New SQL stand-alone installation add features…”
11. Click Next until you get to the “Installation type”
12. Check the box “Add features to an existing instance”
13. Check the “Full Text and Semantic Extractions for Search” Box
14. Keep clicking next until installation is complete.
15. Restart computer
