The @MSI Gaming RTX 4090 Gaming X Trio is an extremely capable GPU, giving roughly twice the performance of an RTX 3090 RE (HP OMEN 4090 in this video). A few things to note. The GPU is extraordinarily large, and I can express enough how big it is. Some of my current cases would have an issue fitting it but the average mid tower PC won’t have much of an issue. I strongly recommend an ATX 3.0 PCIe Gen 5 PSU to go along with it to avoid having to use adapter cables with older PSUs. This will help with cable management as well as reduce cable melting risk which is currently the topic of the hour as of November 2022.

The primary thing that impressed me about the MSI Gaming X Trio RTX 4090 is its cooling capabilities. The fans rarely need to spin while doing many tasks, and only come on when temps reach around 60°c. When they do come on, they are exceptionally quiet.

It does come with a sag bracket that doesn’t seem to really do much when I tried it, but in my opinion, cards this heavy should be installed vertically, not only to showcase their style, but to also reduce stress on the motherboard.

In this video I show performance in workloads and gaming benchmarks but please feel free to ask me additional questions. If you wait until the end of the video, you will find some Star Citizen footage, however I was disappointed to see how much the framerate dropped due to recording in OBS in 4K. It took a considerable performance hit. In future videos I may use an Elgato 4K 60 or better video capture card to eliminate this bottleneck to really showcase the smooth performance this MSI 4090 has to offer in one of if not the most demanding game around as it’s still in ALPHA.

This video was rendered using AV1 in DaVinci Resolve Studio 18.1 on the MSI RTX 4090 Gaming X Trio and it came to 13.5 GB and completed it in 11 minutes.
