OpenWRT 22 - Finally, I got the Intel 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter Working (I225-V)

In the previous video, I had unboxed and tested the 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter (Intel I22-V). It was working great with Windows 10 and ubuntu, but the adapter didn’t work with OpenWRT 21.
As shared by one of the friend on the comment section, the igc driver module for I225-IT Ethernet Controller is official from Linux Kernel 5.15. OpenWRT 21 (stable release) is running on Linux Kernel 5.4, therefore, it will not work. To get it work, we should go back to Kernel 5.1, which is available on OpenWRT 22. Therefore, I give a try with OpenWrt 22.03.0-rc4, installed kmod-igc and the Intel I225-V network adapter is up and running well.
In the video, I also run the iperf3 test to see the throughput between the my Windows 10 PC (Realtek RTL8125B 2.5G) and the HP T620P OpenWRT router (Intel I225-V 2.5G).

Video timeframe:

00:00 – The story
00:51 – Download OpenWrt 22.03.0-rc4 & Create the Boot USB
01:31 – Testing Hardware Overview (HP T620P + MiniPCIe Ethernet + 2.5G Ethernet)
02:33 – Boot up OpenWRT & Initial Setup
04:36 – Install kmod-igc (Kernel/Driver module for Intel I225-V)
05:37 – Add the 2.5G Ethernet Adapter to br-lan (LAN)
07:30 – iperf3 Throught Test (OpenWRT – 2.5G Intel I225-V to Windows 2.5G RTL8125B)
09:35 – HP T620P WAN to LAN OpenSpeedTest
11:04 – HP T620P WAN to LAN iperf3 Throught Test
