DCS F-14A & B Tomcat INS Navigation Tips & Tricks!

Hey guys, today we are going to go over a quick tip on how to get the most out of the INS or Inertial Navigation System of the DCS F-14A and B Tomcat.

The INS of the DCS World F-14A and F-14B Tomcat can only store a total of 7 Waypoints, 1-3, IP, ST, FP and HB. When placing Waypoints normally within the DCS World mission editor Jester will only load waypoints 1-3 and HB as the landing point into the INS System. IP, ST, and FP have to be manually placed with a special tab within the waypoint actions panel.

This makes integrating the DCS F-14 Tomcat into missions much more difficult and time consuming for the mission creator, especially because those special waypoints do not copy over when copying and pasting flights of aircraft.

However, everyone should be aware that all of the waypoints placed in the DCS World Mission Editor will populate on the Kneeboard of the F-14A and B Tomcat, and it is up to the Pilot and RIO, whether the RIO is Jester or a Human, to swap out waypoints on the fly to utilize the full potential of the F-14’s INS system.

This tip or trick was talked about a lot at the initial release of Heatblur’s F-14 module but I think has been slightly lost and if we can bring this procedure back into the collective consciousness of the DCS World Community it will allow F-14 pilots and RIOs to navigate right alongside more modern aircraft through complex flight plans and make mission creation far easier on all the Mission makers out there!

Keep in mind that this trick applies to flying with Jester, or a human RIO equally!
