DCS Open Beta multi-thread release Intel ARC A770 test runs

Here is a quick look comparison of the Low, Medium, and High options in DCS’s newest Open Beta (OB) release.

There are claims this release is providing much higher frame rates. As far as I can tell between the 2.8 version on my computer and this newest OB version those claims are true. There are caveats.

Multi-thread is probably going to provide bigger improvements for those living in the multi-player verse online. Makes sense.

For my set-up (details in the video) frame rate is only part of the story. Testing showed more and stronger stuttering at the medium and high settings in OB, DESPITE higher frame rates than 2.8. Good/bad, yin/yang.

I believe it is a setting, possibly a few, that changes between low and the higher fidelity models causing this. If I find a smoking gun while tinkering I will post again on it.

There is no glaring bottleneck in the system. CPU is below 20%, RAM, GPU and VRAM are not maxed out. Drivers? If true it is great news because of possible fixes. The ARC A770 is a good choice for this game at its price point in my opinion for those of us who spend our real money elsewhere, like on real airplanes.
