The UDP took to the city streets despite being denied permission by police

This morning, the United Democratic Party along with an estimated 250 supporters demonstrated in Belize City despite being denied permission from the Police. The Party was initially denied permission to protest on the basis that the police department would have not been able to provide adequate security for the event. Nonetheless, several members of the Opposition led a group of protesters from the UDP’s headquarters to the Shell Gas Station on Central American Boulevard. The demonstration was the first to be staged by the Opposition since the PUP formed the government.  Reporter Vejea Alvarez was there and has a recap of this morning’s event.
