What is a Domain Name? In this video I explain what a domain name is, how to get one, and the best place to get yourself a domain name.
How’s it going, everybody? Welcome back. So a quick video on what a domain name is and how you can potentially get one depending on your needs. Now, if you’re just looking to purchase your own domain name, you can do it through a host of services. But my preferred service is hosting or and I use hosting or because hosting is also a web hosting service. So not only do I get web hosting services, but I also get a free domain name, which is included in most of these plans. But of course, make sure that your plan includes a free domain. So for example, the single web hosting, which is the entry level plan will not have a free domain name, whereas the two other plans will have a free domain name. I think this is the only plan that does not include a free domain name. And by the way, if you’re interested in hosting, you’ll find links to pricing and discounts as well as a full review in the description down below, which will save you a little bit more cash. Now a domain name is the address of a website on the internet, it acts as an identifying label for a specific website on the internet. So it’s what you see right here hosting or.com. And that pretty much defines what a domain name is. When a person types that hosting or.com into their web browser, they’re taken to the hosting or website. And when they type some other names such as Google or amazon.com, you will be taken to Amazon. And if it is available, you can go ahead and make a subscription and you’ll be paying for it per year of course.com is the most well known domain. So if you’re looking for something that’s easily recognizable.com is probably the best way to go. And again, a domain name should be easy to remember easy to spell and relevant to the content of your website, which is why it’s important to make sure that it’s available through the search right here. Before you decide on one. You don’t want to spend time deciding on a specific domain name just to find out that it’s not available. Once you’ve chosen a domain name, you must then register it with a domain registrar. A domain registrar is a company that manages the reservation of domain names and assigns them to individuals or organizations. The registrar also manages the Domain Name System records for the domain name, which is what connects the domain name to the website’s IP address. And again, hosting is a great example of a domain name registrar where not only you can get web hosting services, but also a domain name of your choice. So to sum things up, a domain name is an essential part of any website and acts as the address of the website on the internet. It should be chosen carefully as it represents the website and its content. And by registering a domain name, you’re creating an identity for your website on the worldwide web and making it accessible to the world.
