Here I show how to install x11vnc on Ubuntu 21.04 as a VNC server for remote access or screen sharing. It’s not as simple as just installing due to Wayland being the default windowing system.

echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE to see which display manager you are running,
sudo nano /etc/gdm3/custom.conf and change the line WaylandEnable=false
sudo reboot
