How to Support a Remote Ubuntu Linux Desktop from Anywhere!

Step-by-step guide to supporting a remote Ubuntu, Mint, or other Debian based Linux desktop. Tools like SSH and RDP are great for remotely connecting to devices on the same network. But if you need to support a device on a different network, i.e. granny’s Linux notebook while she’s sitting at home or in Starbucks, you’ll need a tool like TeamViewer.

I’ll show you how to install the TeamViewer Host in Ubuntu. Once everything is setup, you’ll be able to help granny by connecting from your PC to her Ubuntu notebook, even if both devices are on completely different networks.

TeamViewer is FREE for personal use. It lets you connect to devices regardless of what inbound firewall restrictions are between you and the remote device.
