Modern Warfare 2 Steam Deck Setup + Performance (2022)

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II (2022) just launched its early access open beta to those with pre-orders on all platforms. This is the first COD game to come to Steam in quite some time so I wanted to try it out on the Steam Deck. Unfortunately due to the game’s anti-cheat system the game will not run on Steam OS. Luckily, on the Steam Deck we can install Windows 10 or 11 and with a couple changes we can get this game running at 60fps on the handheld. It is really amazing seeing a new Call of Duty run so well on a portable machine! Hopefully Activision can change the game’s anti-cheat system so that we can just play this one through Steam OS without having to install Windows. It’s nice that the game features AMD FSR 1.0 built in. The game also has DLSS for use with Nvidia graphics cards, so hopefully they add an official implementation of AMD FSR 2.0 or 2.1 to the game for better performance.
