That actor Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl Dixon in the show, originally auditioned for another part in the popular zombie-apocalypse series? Norman Reedus’ performance as Daryl Dixon was a fan favorite during The Walking Dead’s 11 seasons on the air. Daryl is so beloved by fans that a spin-off series featuring the character has already been mooted. Reedus, however, did not audition for the role of Daryl and instead auditioned for the role of Daryl’s on-screen brother Merle. Producers on the show did not think Reedus was a good fit for the role of Merle but liked the actor’s audition so much that they created the role of Daryl just for him.
