Audio:
Almost three months after the official release of the Steam Deck, Valve has announced that the audio drivers are now available for Windows 10 and Windows 11 on Steam Deck.
A new Steam Support forum post contains the details, as well as the links for the driver files, which are now available for owners of the portable device to access. The update also gives users the ability to install several drivers alongside the long-awaited audio drivers, including the drivers for APU, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and SD Card reader.

Durability:
There is still an opportunity for the Steam Deck to make a significant impact on the mobile gaming market, especially given that it’s essentially a handheld PC. With Valve now making Windows compatible with the device, it shows that it’s more than just a gaming console, setting it apart from its competitors such as the Switch. While the actual games are what’s important, it’s also key to make sure that the actual item itself is in good shape and has been built well. This stress test shows how durable it is, but it is uncomfortable to watch.

In a recent video on YouTube, the JerryRigEverything channel has been putting the Steam Deck through its physical paces by seeing how well it stands up to certain tests. Chief among these are seeing how easily the screen can become scratched by scraping along it with numerous sharp tools, as well as running a Stanley blade along the body and buttons of the device. Given that it’s a brand-new item that has come straight from the box, to see it being scratched in this way will almost certainly be horrifying to many watching.

Aya Neo 2:
Handheld maker Aya Neo is adding the Aya Neo 2 and Aya Neo Slide to its lineup of portable PC gaming devices, both of which are set to come with an upgraded Ryzen 7 6800U chip and a Radeon 680M integrated GPU with RDNA 2 graphics, according to a report from Liliputing. The Radeon 680M iGPU is capable of pushing 3.38 teraflops, more than double the 1.6 teraflops delivered by the Steam Deck.
As pointed out by Tom’s Hardware, the Ryzen 7 6800 APU (accelerated processing unit) comes with eight cores and runs on the faster Zen 3 plus architecture. It also comes with the integrated Radeon 680M iGPU, which has 12 compute units (CUs). For comparison, the Steam Deck has a quad-core AMD APU that runs on the older Zen 2 architecture and an iGPU with RDNA 2 graphics and eight CUs. Judging by these specs, the Neo 2 and Neo Slide could have the potential to outperform the Steam Deck — but we won’t know for sure until we see the devices in action.
