13600K + 6950XT 1440 High Lighthouse Escape From Tarkov DDR5-6000MHz CL36 + Samsung Neo G8 240Hz

10/28 Update: A viewer pointed out that I mis-labeled the MOBO in the video. It should say “Z790” instead of “X670E”. Ring clock is incorrectly displayed too :(. I left it on the same setting as the 13900K, but it changes markers for the 13600K in HWiNFO.

I recently ran a poll on my page for the i5-13600K and what kind of build I should use for the initial videos. Out of 122 votes so far, 59% of voters have indicated they would like to see the 13600K in a “best bang for the buck” 1440 build, so here it is. For a long time, the RTX 3080 has been considered the best GPU in terms of value because it provides the most performance per dollar in comparison to cards in other tiers. Going along with that train of thought, this is the “best bang for the buck” build in my opinion. I was really surprised and pleased by the performance. Nice job with this one Intel. Setup and configuration details below. Enjoy.

To me, this is the sweet spot build with the 13600K for 1440 right now. I’ve listed the minimum prices for the parts I found online.
– CPU: Intel i5-13600K ($299)
– MOBO: Z790 DDR5 ($200)
– RAM: DDR5-6000 CL36 ($200)
– GPU: RX 6900XT ($550)

– TOTAL FOR MOBO+:CPU+RAM+GPU: $1250

I’m using an ASUS ROG Maximus Hero, but you can find a Z790 for about $200. I’m using Teamgroup T-Force Delta RGB 7200MHz CL34, but have manually clocked them down. 6000 CL36 can be found for relatively decent prices (for DD5). DDR5 still has early adopter tax.

I’m also using a 6950XT because I don’t have a 6900XT, but if I were building right now, I’d go for the 6900XT. It is generally found $100-150 cheaper and usually performs within ~10% of the 6950XT. I’ve seen some 6900XT sold on ebay for less than $550. That is a steal in my opinion, insanely great price for this gaming beast.

You could probably save a few hundred dollars by getting a DDR4 Z690 build with some 3600 CL14 Samsung B Dies as well. The performance might even be better, I’m not sure. I might get a DDR4 board to test soon.

After months of not working with my Samsung Neo G8, my Elgato 4K60 Pro Mk2 is finally not shutting my PC down when I try to record fullscreen video feed. Woohoo! No more extra frame loss from recording on the same PC.
