How to Update MySQL (MariaDB) in XAMPP Local Server

Step by Step XAMPP Tutorials for Beginners Installation, Upgrade and Apache error Solution (for Windows 7/8/10).

Step №1. First for Security Backup Your MySQL Database. MariaDB upgrading Process Will Secure 100%

Step №2. Download Mariadb Latest Version (zip file). Choose File with Your PC ability 32 or 64 bit

Step №3. Stop Apache and MySQL in XAMPP Control Panel ( Stop All Services)

Step №4. Rename MySQL Folder Name in c Drive Like This Folder Path C:xamppmysql_OLD

Step №5. Extract downloaded mariadb.zip file in to XAMPP Folder and rearrange the folder path

Step №6. Open xampp & xampp_OLD folder side by side

Step №7. Rename this data folder as you like. I’ll rename it like this: data_New_for-DEL

Step №8. From left side Copy “data” folder(C:xamppmysql_OLDdata) to right side in (C:xamppmysql)

Step №9. From left side Copy “backup” folder(C:xamppmysql_OLDbackup) to right side in
(C:xamppmysql)

Step №10. From left side Copy “scripts” folder (C:xamppmysql_OLDbackup) to right side in (C:xamppmysql)

Step №11. From left side Copy this 2 files (mysql_installservice.bat and mysql_uninstallservice.bat ) to right side in (C:xamppmysql)

Step №12. From left side Copy my.ini file(C:xamppmysql_OLDbin) to right side in (C:xamppmysqlbin)

Step №13. In right side make some change in “my.ini” file,
(C:xamppmysqlbin) Make sure you have “#” sing before “skip-federated”

Step №14. In right side Again edit “my.ini” file, Put this line of code “skip-grant-tables” anywhere and save

Step №15. In right side Find “mysql.upgrade.exe” file (inC:xamppmysqlbin) and double click on it. it will update automatically. don’t close black widow

Step №16. In right side Again go to “my.ini” file, delete this line of code “innodb_additional_mem_pool_size = 2M” and save

Step №17. In right side Now delete this folder “data_New_for-DEL”

Step №18. In left side Now delete this folder “mysql_OLD”

Congratulation! You Successfully Updated MySQL – MariaDB
