deepin (formerly Deepin, Linux Deepin, Hiweed GNU/Linux) is a Debian-based distribution (it was based on Ubuntu until version 15 released in late 2015) that aims to provide an elegant, easy-to-use and reliable operating system.
It not only includes the best that the open source world has to offer, but it also created its own desktop environment called DDE or Deepin Desktop Environment, based on the Qt 5 toolkit.
Deepin focuses much of its attention on intuitive design. Its home applications like Deepin Software Center, DMusic and DPlayer are tailored for the average user.
Because it’s easy to install and use, deepin can be a good Windows alternative for office and home use.
Now, after many months in development, Deepin 20.2.2 is now finally available for download to provide the community with an elegant, user-friendly and stable desktop operating system.
What’s New in Deepin 20.2.2
Deepin Linux has its fans and is known for being one of the most modern and beautiful distros on the market. With this release, Deepin Linux fans can enjoy an all-new App Store that supports installing Android apps, offers better app management with support for batch app installation, and has a new design with streamlined interaction.
As of this release, Deepin Linux is now more secure thanks to Secure Boot support for secure boot, which makes the system boot only the signed kernel and OEM trusted software.
According to the developers, Deepin Linux is the first Chinese distribution to obtain a secure boot certificate.
The Deepin Linux 20 series introduced a unique dual kernel feature to let you choose the Linux kernel for your needs directly from the bootloader.
This release updates pre-installed kernels to the latest versions of Linux 5.10 LTS and Linux 5.12 series for better hardware support, including support for the rtl8852ae network card as well as NVIDIA A10, A10G, A30, PG506-232, RTX A4000, RTX A5000, T400 and T600 GPUs.
Also updated in Deepin Linux 20.2.2 is Deepin Desktop Environment (DDE) with support for multiple biometric authentication methods at login, lock screen and control center, Deepin File Manager with support for custom screen savers, and Deepin Browser with new extensions.
The Deepin Control Center, Music, Album, Draw, Image Viewer, Mail, Downloader, System Installer and Package Installer all received fixes for various bugs and issues reported by users of previous versions.
