Hey guys, welcome back, and today I’ll be talking about the best free VPNs for Windows. If you use Windows, then you know how important it is to keep your device secure while online. One of the best ways to accomplish this is to use a virtual private network, or VPN. A VPN encrypts your internet connection and hides your IP address, which lets you browse the internet safely and privately. Using a VPN is especially important when using public Wi-Fi or untrustworthy networks, since it protects you from hackers and data thieves. But, with so many options, how do you know which free VPNs are the best for Windows? Now normally, I would not recommend using a free VPN for several reasons, which I’ll be getting into. For starters, free VPNs may not offer the same level of security as paid alternatives, because they often don’t have strong encryption and other security measures. A lot of them will have some useful features, but those might even be hiding behind a paywall, which makes the whole idea of choosing a free VPN over a premium one pretty redundant. Second of all, free VPNs have data or bandwidth limits, which restricts your use of the VPN as soon as you pass the data cap. This can be an issue if you’re just casually browsing the internet when all of a sudden you reach the data cap, taking away that sense of safety and online security since you’ll just be vulnerable and unprotected all over again. And finally, some free VPNs depend on selling user data or displaying advertisements for revenue, which means that even though the service is “free”, you might be paying for it with your personal information. That one doesn’t sound too appealing, since you’d want to use a VPN for the sake of online privacy. So having that happen to you just goes against the point of using a VPN to begin with. So as a result, it is important to think twice and consider these potential drawbacks before using a free VPN. But naturally, you’ll still face some limitations since these are free services after all. You’ll only have three countries with Proton, and the speeds will be throttled for two reasons: the first is that the servers are naturally congested because they’re free, and the second is that the faster servers are reserved for paying customers. But what makes Proton appealing is that you still get a kill switch and split tunneling, and there is no data cap, so you can keep using it without fear of bandwidth limitations. ExpressVPN, NordVPN, and Surfshark are all excellent options for keeping your device secure while online. So that’s it for this video.
