I swapped my RTX 4090 for an Acer Predator BiFrost Intel Arc A770 OC

Like an absolute mad lad I decided it might be fun to swap my Asus ROG Strix 4090 OC White Edition for an Acer Arc A770 Intel graphics card.

I’ve previously looked the Limited Edition Intel Arc A770 (https://youtu.be/ZYzoMOkXQ8Q) but since then Acer has released this BiFrost Edition of the card and the drivers have been updated several times to improve performance.

Intel’s Arc A770 is a much more affordable graphics card option. It’s currently running at around $399/£399. Which makes it a great option considering what’s possible.

In this video I’m talking about my experience after switching from the RTX 4090 to the A770 for a couple of weeks. I’ve been gaming with it, recording gameplay clips for my other channel @theprovokedprawnpews, editing 4K videos for this channel and generally poking and prodding.

I was surprised by a number of different things. For example, it’s able to power my Samsung super ultrawide monitor (https://youtu.be/2iYUFCw1MHA) in a variety of games, but naturally doesn’t have as high a FPS count as the 4090 while doing so. Still, it’s smooth enough to play with and is able to record footage at the same time too! It’s also able to render videos in Davinci Resolve pretty quickly too – only taking a smidge longer than the RTX 4090.

Obviously with the Intel A770, you can make use of Intel XeSS to get more FPS but also AMD FSR as well, so it’s possible to get a surprising amount of performance out of such an affordable card. I showed how you can even play games at 4K.
