The Current State of Game Dialogue

From story driven games to online shooters, dialogue is integral to the experience of gaming today. But the prevalence of sarcastic characters has brought into question the laziness and repetitiveness of modern game dialogue writing, especially in the AAA gaming scene where it seems that many of the most popular games are written by the same few people.

In this video I will discuss the history and evolution of game dialogue up to where it is today, and how a shift in popularity from RPGs to action adventure games is symbolic of the perceived decline in game writing.
