STEP BY STEP! How to Install/Migrate Windows 10 To A New SSD in Your Gaming PC
This is your complete guide with step by step instructions for performing a clean install of Windows 10 on your SSD Drive. In this tutorial I will be migrating Windows 10 to a new SSD and installing the new SSD as well. I’m actually taking out my old SSD that has Windows 10 installed already and just installing a whole new Windows 10. If you were thinking of migrating your Windows 10 there is absolutely no reason to do that. You always want to do a fresh install every chance you get because it will improve overall performance and it’s just so easy now that there is really no reason not to. I know what I’m doing is not technically a migration, but the only thing you really need to migrate is your personal data not Windows 10. Windows 10 lives in the cloud and you will also keep a copy on your USB media stick during this installation guide so you just need to back up your personal data. Don’t worry about migrating Windows that is just not a part of the process anymore. It isn’t like the old days!
The only step I forgot to mention in the video is that I have linked my Microsoft Account with my copy of Windows 10 in the computer settings. By doing this when I reinstall it will just see my credentials and absolutely no key is necessary. It’s really great but you must have that part linked already. If you use the Microsoft Store for anything this is probably already done. You can easily just check if yours is activated in your Windows Activation area. If you search “activation” in your start bar and then go to Activation Settings it will tell you if you have done this step. It should say “Windows is activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft Account” and that means you are good to go with this tutorial. Otherwise click the link there and take the steps to register your copy of windows to your account.
My installation goes really easy because I have already taken that step. Otherwise I think you could also just find your key from the same screen and copy it down. I don’t see why that wouldn’t work but I already had the linking done personally so I didn’t need my product key for anything during this process. I used Windows that came with my computer.
