On May 25, the #PostgreSQL #Development #Group #released #PostgreSQL 16 #Beta 1, bringing various #performance improvements. #Query execution is #faster due to #increased parallelism, and incremental sorts in #SELECT #DISTINCT queries have been added. #Enhanced #concurrent bulk #loading of #data using #COPY has also seen a 300% #boost in #performance.

#PostgreSQL 16 brings #CPU #acceleration for x86 and Arm #architectures by using #SIMD, with #optimisations for #array and #subtransaction #searches and #processing #ASCII and #JSON #strings. Additionally, it #introduces #load #balancing for #libpq, the #PostgreSQL #client #library.
