As if 2020 hasn’t been an ugly year already. We’ve had a pandemic tear apart our world, Amazon and Walmart affiliate programs reduced their commissions, Google is still releasing algorithm updates that are crushing certain online business, and now some folks using Google Adsense are losing money due to an “Invalid Click” issue. It’s an ugly one folks. And I talked about this in my July 2020 income report quite a bit, but I have been hit HARD by the Adsense invalid click issue and lost a lot of money over it.

That said, now that I’ve worked through all of the problems, I’m creating this video to help anyone else who might be impacted. So if you use Google Adsense for any monetization on your website, stay tuned to learn how you may also be impacted and how to fix the problem.

Background
• Woke up one day expecting a $16,000 check from Adsense, and I got half of that. Wasn’t sure why or what was going on, investigated, and realized Google had taken much of my Adsense earnings claiming “invalid clicks”
• This spreadsheet shows how much they’ve taken so far this year: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1z7EjZ56tRbzr0bAlD2sPVtPC3N1JwculRp6gEQg1urk/edit?usp=sharing
• Note it was historically under 1% and now it’s climbed to over 63%
• Adsense email support hasn’t been helpful
• I looked and other people were having same problem: https://support.google.com/adsense/thread/56571675?hl=en
https://support.google.com/adsense/thread/31967306?hl=en
• Website layout has remained the same.

Why is this a big deal?
•Google can (and often does) suspend your Adsense account for this
• You won’t have much help from Google Support
• From what I’ve seen, the numbers keep going up
• Google announced a crackdown on this previously: https://www.searchenginejournal.com/google-adsense-crackdown/322123/

How to Fix Adsense invalid clicks

• Join an ad network. When you do this, it is the Ad Network vs Google. Not You vs. Google.
• I choose Ezoic and earnings are doing just fine now. If you’re hesitant, you can even have 50% of traffic goes to Ezoic and 50% of traffic stay on your regular website to see how Ezoic performs.
• Must have 10k minimum pageviews monthly for Ezoic: https://onehourprofessor.com/ezoic
• Must have 50k minimum pageviews monthly for Mediavine
• Must have 100k minimum pageviews monthly for AdThrive
• Google Adsense thinks it is detecting fraud: https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/16737?hl=en
• And they might be.
• Here’s some guidelines: https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/1112983
• Check to see if you’re encouraging accidental clicks
• Are you disclosing “Sponsored Links” in your content above the ads? They told me to do this.
• Check your traffic sources. Is anything fishy? Because it could be bots.
