How to Flatten CNAMES Using Cloudflare

CNAME flattening allows a CNAME record to be created for the root domain without disrupting DNS configurations. This is beneficial for multiple reasons:

– It’s required often for certain hosts or integrations on the web
– There are rules that govern DNS standards and often the easiest way to avoid violating or messing up your DNS at your host or CDN is to flatten the CNAME
– Allows you to keep MX records and other DNS records, like A and AAA records, unaffected by root domain changes
