How to Setup Cloudflare for Free | Ultimate Guide to Cloudflare DNS Setup (Fast & Easy)

Today we will learn how to setup Cloudflare with your website. Also, we will learn the website speed-up method by Cloudflare.

Cloudflare is well known for providing free security for your website, as well as it provide completely free CDN for each user.

That’s why it is getting popular among website developers and users.

So today, we are going to setup Cloudflare DNS on this website.

You see, there is a not secure warning for beside the website URL. This happens when you don’t have an SSL certificate for your website.

After successfully setup Cloudflare, this will be shown secured.

So, if you don’t have an account on Cloudflare, then click on sign up.

Input your email here.

And also set a password by the following instruction.

Then sign up.

The account is being created.

Then go to the website section.

You see, we don’t have added site here,

Click on add site.

Now go back to the website, and copy the domain name.

And paste it into the box.

Before going to the next step, make sure that you remove the HTTPS part and the extra characters.

Then click on add site.

They will show you the various premium plans for Cloudflare, but scroll down and choose the free plan.

Then continue.

At this stage, they will start scanning your domain for DNS records.

Under DNS management, you will see these records. Which indicates, everything is going fine.

Then click continue.

On this page, we need to change our domain nameserver and set the Cloudflare nameserver.

Go to the domain panel. Then click on manage beside your desired domain.

Here you will find the nameserver option. By the way, your domain panel design maybe little different, but I am sure you will find this nameserver option easily.

Now copy the Cloudflare nameservers, and replace them one by one. Follow my steps.

Then save changes.

Changes saved successfully.

Go back to Cloudflare.
And click on done.

Here a quick start guide will appear.

Let’s setup one by one.

Enable automatic HTTPS rewrites.

Always use HTTPS, enable it.

Then enable brotli.

Make sure that all are “On”.

On the next overview page, click on check nameserver first.

Here they are saying Cloudflare is now checking the nameserver periodically. Once it gets completed, Cloudflare will be connected soon.

They will send an email. It will not take more than 40 minutes. We will wait for it.

We received this mail within 30 minutes.

The status is active. This means, the website is connected with Cloudflare security.

The nameserver is successfully changed.

If you go to the Cloudflare dashboard.

You will see an active mark under the domain.

If you visit the domain, you will see the “Not secure” button is gone. A security lock is showing.

We will do some basic settings for this domain.

By the way, if you ever need to add any DNS records, then you can add them from here.

Under the SSL section, you can enable or disable SSL from the website.

The most important thing is in the speed section.

In optimization, you will see auto minify.

Enable all three boxes. It will optimize all the javascript, CSS, and HTML codes of your website. It speeds up your website.

Scroll down. And enable the rocket loader option too.

It improves the paint time for pages that include javascript.

So, your Cloudflare setup is done. Your website will be hosted by Cloudflare CDN now.
