Desk to Datacenter: Ep4 Installing and Configuring a basic ESXi 8.0 Host

ESXi is the hypervisor made by vmware. It’s quite powerful and used in many datacenters around the world for virtualization.

Full ESXi is a bit differen’t from VMware’s desktop virtualization product so it’s good to go grab a free copy of real esxi if you have the hardware so you get a better feel for what you will be working with in the datacenter.

If you don’t have that hardware, well that’s where I come in!

This video we’ll configure the hardware to install esxi, install “over the network”, configure the management and vm networks and add an additional datastore to put things such as ISO’s, vm’s logs, etc.

If you want to download vmware esxi free you can from https://customerconnect.vmware.com/en/downloads/info/slug/datacenter_cloud_infrastructure/vmware_vsphere_hypervisor_esxi/7_0

Though they seem to be only pushing 7.0 and 6.5 via that link. 8 is around for download here:
