3 Reasons Why YOU SHOULD USE A SharePoint List instead of an Excel Spreadsheet! #shorts
I personally find that a Microsoft SharePoint List is a better solution for handling data. Sure—there are a ton of cool things that an Excel spreadsheet can do and I’m not in any way saying NOT to use a spreadsheet—I’m simply asking you to give SharePoint Lists a try!
In this quick tutorial—I’ll show you 3 reasons why you should try out SharePoint Lists. I have a lot more reasons—but here are three to hopefully get you started.
1️⃣ Single Source
All data has to be entered into the SharePoint list. What you see here is current. With an excel spreadsheet, a user can easily save a file onto their local drive which can lead to version control issues.
2️⃣ Control Data Entry
SharePoint lists allow you to create a more user-friendly interface for entering data. You can add helper text, various options and validation criteria. Although some of these features are also available in a spreadsheet it’s very easy to set up custom columns in a SharePoint list.
3️⃣ Integration with Microsoft 365
You can easily integrate a SharePoint list with various Microsoft 365 apps. Receive an automated message once an item has been updated or added to a list. Customize your form with Microsoft Power Apps and access it from any mobile device.
