In this video, we will show you the two common chassis options for the PowerEdge R340. There is a total of 3 options which are: 4 Bay LFF and 8 Bay SFF. There are not very many differences between the different chassis aside from the differences in bay and the lengths of the chassis. The 4 Bay LFF chassis accepts up to four 3.5” SAS/SATA drives. 2.5” HDDs and SSDs can be installed into this chassis via a 2.5” to 3.5” drive converter. The 8 Bay SFF chassis accepts up to eight 2.5” SAS/SATA drives. No 3.5” drives can be used. Both chassis have a low profile PCIe slot, a full height PCIe slot, and a dedicated PCIe slot for RAID controllers. The 8 Bay SFF chassis is also shorter than the 4 Bay LFF chassis.
