After your MariaDB install you may notice that when you run mysql -u root -p you do not need to enter the root password to log in. This is the default behaviour.

This video will show you how to set the root password on MariaDB and this correct when MariaDB does not have a root password.

This MariaDB tutorial takes place on CentOS 7 / Redhat 7 Linux but should work on most Linux & windows systems. it should also work in MYSQL.
