Ajax is er niet in geslaagd het tweede groepsduel in de UEFA Champions League ook winnend af te sluiten. Op Anfield nekte een late goal van Matip de Amsterdammers na een 1-1-ruststand. In de eerste helft had Mohammed Kudus Ajax op gelijke hoogte gezet nadat Liverpool door een goal van Salah op voorsprong was gekomen.
